Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park

July 29,2006
Investigators: Grace, John, David, Sabrina, Karen
Guests: Jesse, Pasty, Marc

We contacted Jesse Torres the park ranger to go and investigate the Yuma Prison. Since I had been there before. I did not let the others know what sort of activity I had gotten there before. As we arrived we sat down to hear a brief history of the prison and a tour with Jesse the Park Ranger as our guide. You could immediately feel the energy that was there. And the excitement we felt being in such a Historical Place

Investigation: We proceeded to figure out where our cameras and recorders would be placed. John felt it best to put one camera down the main corridor, outside, and the other one would be placed down in the "dark cell" and another placed in the back court yard. We also set up voice recorders one in the "dark cell" the other one was placed in the middle cells and the last one was placed in the court yard on the 4th cell next to the back wall.

Once everything was set where it was suppose to be we went to the front yard and started taking pictures there and we also took pictures in the guard tower. One surprise visit we had there was what we thought was a cat turned out to be a skunk. John immediately felt a lot of energy in the front court yard. We also took time out in the museum reading about the prisoners who were imprisoned there.

After an hour and half passed we decided to move our cameras and recorders. We felt it was better to leave the camera and recorder in the "dark cell" because of the amount of activity there. We also had another guest who was a friend of Jesse that came along with us. And we proceeded to show her everything that we knew and how we conduct our investigations.

We moved the camera from the back court yard into the library. And set the recorder near John Ryans cell. We also moved the other camera from the middle corridor to the guard tower, and set up the recorder in the old part of the old storage area that it was said to be part of the hospital. We proceeded to take pictures where our camcorder's would be left alone, and not in camera view

Psychic Findings: John immediately got a lot of activity that happened in the front court yard he also got something that happened near the wall by the railroad tracks, and also he got a letter or name in the big court yard he also found the strongest activity in the "dark cell" having to do with a woman. In one of my recordings from the "dark cell" it said "Where's Lilia?" I asked Jesse the park ranger if one of the women prisoners was named Lilia and he said "no" so it might have been a woman or a homeless family member that used to live there during the Depression. We also got a very strong energy where the parking lot now stands and John also felt a strong presence down by the river. We found out later that someone had hung themselves on the bridge. You could also feel the sadness and the pain that took place there. But also the violence energy that was still present when you walked thru the cells. And the knowiness that we were not welcome there by spirit.

Conclusion: All in all we felt that our investigation there was successful and felt that we experienced some of what the prisoners felt from that time. We would like to thank Jesse the Park Rangers, our host and his friend for allowing us to come back to do an investigation. I would like to add that if you are not from Arizona or even if you are from Arizona please stop by and visit the "Yuma Territorial Prison" not just for the ghostly atmosphere but also for its historical and informative value.
